AGC of California names Peter Tateishi as new CEO

Peter Tateishi is leaving Sacramento Metro Chamber to serve as chief executive officer of the Associated General Contractors of California, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Tateishi will replace the association’s current CEO, Tom Holsman, who announced in early 2017 that he is stepping down after 32 years of service.

“AGC is committed to serving the needs of our members, and Peter brings a tremendous amount of experience that will help lead our organization well into the future,” said Mike Mencarini, president of the board, AGC of America.

Mencarini added that leadership transitions can be a burden for large organizations, but having a skilled and experienced professional like Tateishi take over allows AGC of California to “seamlessly continue being the voice of the construction industry.”

As CEO of the association, Tateishi’s duties include leading the organization and its members through statewide advocacy efforts, safety compliance training and workforce development. He will also serve as AGC of California’s voice in building industry relationships.

He has been tasked with the overall management of the organization, growing the membership, and engaging the development of regional policy initiatives to address business issues including land use, transportation, air quality, and other regional

From February 2013 to 2015, Tateishi led the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange as its CEO. Prior to this position, he worked as the chief of staff in the office of Congressman Dan Lungren for nearly four years.
