Siegel & Strain moves to new 6201 Doyle studio

San Francisco-based Siegel & Strain Architects has recently moved into a new studio labeled “Under One Roof” at 6201 Doyle St. in Emeryville, just two blocks from their previous office.

After occupying two office spaces for some time at their old studio, their team will finally be working in one place. According to a statement published Nov. 9, the nationally-recognized design firm said that being able to work together “under one roof” will improve their team collaboration as well as office culture.

Siegel & Strain has also recently promoted several of its staff members, namely: Senior Associate Marjorie Smith, leader of the UC Berkeley Hillel Center project; Senior Associate Michael Hayden, leader of Yosemite National Park projects; Senior Associate Karen Richards, team member of the Cottonwood Visitor Center at Joshua Tree; and Director of Historic Preservation Lindsey Moder, leader of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area Historic Hangar Buildings project.

The firm has two major projects that will begin construction in winter 2017, The Brisbane Library and the Oakley Recreation Center. Moreover, projects currently under construction have been reaching milestones, such as The National Environmental Science Center in Yosemite Park which already has five buildings nearing completion, and The Bishop O’Dowd Center for Environmental Studies which was recently awarded with the Acterra 2017 Business Award for Sustainable Built Environment.

Founded in 1985, Siegel & Strain has consistently incorporated sustainability into their designs, setting new standards for the architecture community. Practice leaders have been active in advocating sustainable design in the industry, with Principal Henry Siegel recently serving as juror on the Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon competition, and Principal Larry Stain presenting at Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.
