AIA|Los Angeles will hold its 15th City Leaders Breakfast Series on April 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at HED, 601 South Figueroa St., Suite 500.

The event allows designers, stakeholders, and other participants to personally meet with important figures in the city’s architectural scene and to exchange ideas in a round table setting.

This 2018’s Breakfast Series will feature Milton S.F. Curry, dean of the University of South California’s School of Architecture and Della & Harry MacDonald Dean’s Chair.

Prior his current position in USC, he served as associate dean for academic affairs and strategic initiatives at the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Planning for seven years, starting from 2010.

As a professor of architecture, Curry has held several teaching positions at Cornell University, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, and Arizona State University.

Among his notable contributions to the industry include spearheading the Michigan/Mellon Project on Egalitarianism and establishing the Michigan Architecture Prep program for high schoolers in Detroit.

Curry is known for advocating the “architecture race theory.” His writings, lectures, as well as creative work all highlight ethnicity while incorporating it with modern design.

The AIA|LA Breakfast Series is sponsored by engineering consultant Psomas. Tickets are priced at $15 for members of the organization and $25 for non-members.

Registration is done together with purchase at the official AIA|LA website.
