Victor Valley College seeks local contractors to construct new building

Victor Valley College is seeking a few contractors as it prepares to begin construction on a new student services center building this summer, the Daily Press reported.

The new 26,860-sq.ft., building will be located west of the music building, with the site bisecting Jacaranda Avenue and taking up a portion of the parking lot west of the technology center, according to the report.

The college is looking for contractors in the electrical, plumbing, mechanical, structural steel, framing, roofing, low voltage, glazing, concrete and asphalt trades. The new building will utilize a “multiple prime delivery method,” which breaks the project up into approximately 16 or more divisions of work. This method eliminates the role of a general contractor and allows the individual scope of work packages to be bid directly to the district.

Slated to be completed by fall of 2019, the project is estimated to cost $20 million.
