City of San Diego secures $5M for community center construction

The City of San Diego has secured funding for construction of the Bay Terraces Community Center.

The $5-million federal grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

Community Development Block Grant program, will be used to fund the facility’s construction in

southeastern San Diego’s Bay Terraces Community Park, according to a report from Times of San Diego.

The 3,200 sq.-ft. community center will serve seniors and residents in the Paradise Hills, Bay Terraces

and Skyline communities, according to the city. The facility will include a multi-purpose room, kitchen,

office, restrooms and will meet the Americans with Disabilities Act standards, according to the city.
