Construction to soon begin 300 affordable apartments in San Jose

First Community Housing plans to build a two-tower affordable housing project near Diridon Station in downtown San Jose.

The project, called McEvoy Apartments, will be built at the corner of West San Carlos and McEvoy streets and will feature 319 affordable residential units, The Mercury News reported.

The project will be completed in two phases. The first phase would provide a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom rental apartments, while the second phase would consist primarily of studios.

Housing Trust Silicon Valley provided a $15.85 million loan for the land acquisition.
