MAI building $1.5M center for Computer History Museum

Bay Area commercial general contractor MAI Construction said that it is building a new learning center for the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif.

The project includes building a new children’s learning center in the Computer History Museum that will give the museum a space to hold special teaching sessions for students from kindergarten to Grade 12. The previous space was used primarily for storage.

The project calls for the development of a new children’s learning area with new arena style seating, high-end finishes including millwork, floor coverings, window treatments, new glass sliding doors, magnetic marker board paint, along with a new 3Form cloud ceiling system. Framing on this new space was extensive as all the new and existing walls were to receive a layer of plywood for future museum exhibits to hang their pieces.

The project scope also includes new exterior egress doors, research office, an immersive gallery, and rework of their existing storage vestibule area for volunteer operations.
