Flatiron-led JV gets additional $224 million contract for North Coast Corridor

Flatiron-Skanska-Stacy and Witbeck (FSSW), a joint venture designed for the I-5 North Coast Corridor project, recently awarded an additional segment on the North Coast Corridor project.

The $224-million contract includes extending the carpool lane on Interstate 5 (I-5) in each direction between Manchester Avenue in the City of Encinitas, and Palomar Airport Rd. in the Carlsbad.

Work is expected to commence immediately and wrap-up in 2021.

The North Coast Corridor is a multi-modal transit, transportation, and environmental enhancement program located in San Diego County’s northern coastal area. It includes 14 miles of highway that connects the cities of Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and San Diego.

The project includes a variety of upgrades to the Interstate 5 highway, its bridges, adjacent railways, and lagoons. The contract award specifically addresses HOV upgrades to the San Elijo highway section of Interstate 5 and LOSSAN rail section crossing of the San Elijo Lagoon.
