Granite Construction wins $22 million Caltrans Highway 1 project

Granite Construction says that it has been awarded a $22 million contract by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for the Highway 1 from North Aptos Underpass to Junction Route 9 project in Santa Cruz. The contract will be included in Granite’s first quarter 2019 backlog.

Scope of work includes the replacement of the old metal beam guard railing with new concrete barriers, installation of new overhead sign structures, repair of the overcrossing deck surfaces, and repaving of the highway with rubberized asphalt, the company says in a news release.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2019 and be complete in December 2019.
