Dutch-based citizenM is reportedly moving forward with plans for a second Southern California modular hotel project, in Hollywood, just weeks after breaking ground on its first Los Angeles area hotel at 4th and Spring Streets.
The planned hotel on a .28-acre site at 1718 N. Vine St. will replace a one-story restaurant with a 13-story building featuring 240 guest rooms – ranging between 152 and 185 square feet in size – and amenities such as a gym, a rooftop bar, and a lounge, Urbanize LA reports. There will be 79 parking spaces in a fully automated structure spanning five levels below ground.
The project designed by Gensler will reportedly be built by assembling modular-built components, joining a trend towards factory-built structures, including a new Hilton Home2Suites project, also in Los Angeles.
The project’s draft environmental impact report indicates the hotel will be built over 21 months, concluding by 2022.
The project site was purchased by citizenM in 2016 for a reported sum of $7.5 million.
Urbanize LA says the hotel neighbors two large parking lots surrounding the Capitol Records Building, where a $1-billion development featuring over 1,000 residential units and multiple high-rise structures is planned.
