ABC NorCal seeking to hire virtual craft instructors

It’s no secret that the California construction industry is in high need of workers, but experienced and knowledgeable construction workers are in high demand as well.

Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California (ABC NorCal) says it “is actively hiring virtual craft instructors for full-time and part-time roles to earn income from their home.”

The association representing non-union contractors says its “craft instruction managers” would share foundational trade skills in  carpentry, construction craft laborer, and electrical. They can be based anywhere in California

“We are actively looking to hire those who are proud of their trade skills and are ready to train the next generation of construction workers building communities’ infrastructure,” ABC NorCal facilities director Daniel Albano said in an Oct. 25 statement.

“ABC NorCal is committed to continue cementing the future of the construction industry with well-trained workers educated by people who would like to keep working in the industry and can do so from home. This is a wonderful and practical way to earn complementary income for people who may be retired or have need to be home to care for familial responsibilities.”

Instructors can be based anywhere, and part-time roles need to have at least three years of experience in the trades as a journey worker.

Experience for part-time roles can include Electrical, Voice-Data-Video, Construction Craft Laborer, Carpentry, and Painting (painting trades must be taught in person at the East Bay Area).

The association says five years of experience are required for full-time roles. Additional requirements for craft instructors include a high school diploma or GED and basic computer skills. Electrical instructors must be certified with the State of California.

“This job opportunity offers a competitive salary and benefits with training and onboarding where needed,” the statement says. “This role could be a great source of income for people with a wealth of experience in construction and eager to give back to the trade. The part-time role would not interfere with a day job nor retirement.”
