Non-union apprentice graduates hailing from the greater northern California – from Fresno, Oakland, Stockton, Auburn to Windsor and Hayward – were recognized on March 25 for their achievement in successfully completing the Associated Builders and Contractors Northern California Chapter (ABC NorCal) Apprenticeship Program.

A statement from ABC NorCal said 126 apprentices were to participate in the event at the ABC NorCal offices in Livermore.

ABC advocates for “merit shop” non-union contractors.

“ABC NorCal apprentices earn a living wage and health benefits at no cost to them while training towards a career in the construction industry within the trades of carpentry, construction craft laborer, electrical, painting, and plumbing,” the association said in a statement.

“While in the program, apprentices learn a lifetime of construction-industry skills on the job site and in the classroom, and graduate with the required qualifications and credentials, such as Certificates of Completion from the State of California and the Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship, that make them desired job candidates for contractors across the country.”
