Caltrain begins construction on Bayshore Station Overpass Rehabilitation

Construction of The Bayshore Station Overpass Rehabilitation Project is starting and is expected to be completed by December.

The project will remove and replace the coating on the station’s pedestrian bridge and stairwells to ensure the overpass remains safe and fully functional.

The overpass will remain open, with work continuing on half of the bridge at a time to allow riders to pass through the area.  A temporary containment system that will allow the use of the pedestrian bridge, station, and train tracks at all times and protect the community from dust, and debris from construction was set up in July.

Construction will include sandblasting, washing and painting the station to remove and replace the coating on the station’s pedestrian bridge and stairwells between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as approximately three weeks of night work from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The $6.87 million project is made possible through a combination of state and San Francisco Prop K funds.
