Construction starts on new Oceanside affordable housing

Greenbrier Village will feature a spacious community center for resident activities, private offices for case management services, an outdoor terrace, a community garden, a fire pit, and laundry facilities.

Greenbrier Village is a 60-unit complex by National CORE and the San Diego Community Housing Corporation, is expected to cost about $26 million, with about $3.5 million coming from the City of Oceanside and $5.9 million from San Diego County’s No Place Like Home funds.

“Today really shows a collaboration between public agencies and private sectors coming together and making good things happen,” County Supervisor Jim Desmond said at a groundbreaking ceremoy. “We’ve got to supply more affordable housing to help end homelessness in San Diego County.”

Construction is expected to be completed in 2025 and the complex will include recreational amenities, a courtyard with an outdoor terrace and barbecue area and a community garden.

Greenbrier Village is the eighth complex started with funds from the No Place Like Home program, designed to expand affordable housing, including developments in Vista and San Ysidro, Teralta West and Pacific Beach neighborhoods in San Diego.
