Today is the last day to complete an online questionnaire and provide comments on the Truxel Bridge concept and feasibility study.

The City of Sacramento is undertaking an engineering feasibility study for a new multi-modal bridge across the lower American River between Truxel Road and Sequoia Pacific Boulevard to better connect North and South Natomas with the Central City.

The plan for Truxel Bridge is to create a more direct connection for those walking, biking, taking transit, or driving between northern Sacramento communities and the urban core. It will also provide better access, improve air quality, improve job opportunities, enhance economic development, and improve emergency response times.

The purpose of the feasibility study is to refine the adopted alternative for the new bridge by conducting an inclusive public outreach and engagement process in collaboration with the detailed engineering and environmental analysis.

The project team will gather feedback on bridge configuration concepts, constraints analysis and design drawings.  A few of the key elements that will require stakeholder input include avoidance of known constraints, minimizing  impacts to the Lower American River and associated wildlife, configuration of right-of-way on the bridge for all modes of travel, and connections to existing bicycle and pedestrian pathways.

In January, the city hosted the first in-person community meeting to gather initial feedback from the public on the preliminary bridge design. During the meeting, staff explained the current study. To learn more visit the project website or click the link to watch the video presentation.
