The City of Santa Clarita will host a groundbreaking event, marking the start of construction of The Rink Sports Pavilion on Fri., Aug. 30, at 9:30 a.m.
Located adjacent to the gymnasium at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex, the new recreational facility is being described as “a cornerstone of community engagement and wellness” in Santa Clarita.
“The idea behind the roller rink stemmed from direct resident feedback during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Santa Carita Mayor Cameron Smyth said in a statement. “Looking for a recreational activity that was outside and around nature, residents quickly began to use the basketball courts at Central Park to host skating nights.
“After listening to many who came to City Council meetings to voice their support for having a skating rink in our community, we began our journey in creating what will now be known as The Rink Sports Pavilion.
The Rink Sports Pavilion will feature a 12,000-sq. ft. multi-use rink, perfect for roller skating, basketball, volleyball and pickleball. Also, the 25,701 sq. ft. structure will house a commercial kitchen and a DJ booth, ensuring it will be the go-to destination for events ranging from birthday parties and business meetings to galas and more. The facility is anticipated to open in 2026.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, roller skaters from the local community groups will attend to give a skating demonstration on the basketball courts.
