Fresno County will break ground this week on two new public libraries in Clovis and Reedley, marking the county’s first design-build projects.
Harris Construction has been selected to build both facilities, which are funded through Measure B along with contributions from the Friends of the Clovis Library, the Friends of the Reedley Library, and community donors.
The Clovis Regional Library groundbreaking is scheduled for Wed., Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at 755 3rd Street, behind the Clovis Senior Activity Center. The Reedley Library groundbreaking will follow on Thurs., Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. at 1813 11th Street, along the Reedley Rail-Trail.
“These new libraries are investments in the future of our communities,” County Librarian and Library Director Sally Gomez said in a statement. “These projects represent years of vision, planning, and community support, and they will provide opportunities for the community to connect, learn, and be inspired for generations to come.”
The Fresno County Public Library, established in 1909, operates 34 branches across the county. Library officials said the new buildings will expand services and provide modern spaces for residents of all ages.
Both groundbreaking ceremonies are open to the public.
