The City of Malibu has introduced a new artificial intelligence platform designed to make the rebuilding process faster and more efficient for homes damaged in recent wildfires.

The Archistar AI Platform, now available through the city’s development portal, uses artificial intelligence to review building plans for zoning and code compliance before submission. City officials say the tool will help streamline approvals, reduce delays, and support the city’s ongoing effort to modernize its permitting system.

Staff from Malibu’s Community Development Department demonstrated the new platform for local design professionals last week, part of the Malibu Community Series, which runs through January 2026.

Following the Palisades and Franklin Fires, Malibu has prioritized efforts to make the rebuild process faster, clearer, and easier for homeowners. Under the direction of Community Development Director Yolanda Bundy, the city has been working with local builders, architects, and residents to identify challenges and improve coordination.

The Community Development Department led by Director Yolanda Bundy has been holding working meetings with local building professionals and homeowners to gather feedback and identify ways to streamline the process. Meetings are scheduled with Design Professionals on Nov. 13 and Dec. 3; and Fire Rebuild Community Sessions will be held Oct. 15, Nov. 18, Dec. 11, and Jan. 14, 2026. All of the meeting details will be posted on the Rebuild website.
