East End Studios has begun construction on its new facility, the East End Studios Mission Campus, in downtown Los Angeles’ Arts District. The project has entered the demolition and excavation phase, with vertical construction set to start this summer. The $230 million development is expected to be completed by late 2025.

The project is anticipated to create 1,500 construction jobs and, once completed, create 750 permanent positions.

“The Downtown Los Angeles Arts District has long been on our radar as a prime development area. Its cultural richness and unique character make it an ideal spot for a top-tier film and television studio campus,” said Shep Wainwright, managing partner. “We are proud and honored to have the backing of the City of Los Angeles and Mayor Karen Bass, whose commitment helps maintain Los Angeles as the hub of the entertainment industry.”

The new campus will span 245,000 sq. ft. and include five soundstages ranging from 14,000 to 35,000 sq. ft.

Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement: “Our legacy industry needs support, and this campus will provide the boost needed to preserve jobs and stimulate local production. From the construction jobs to the opportunities for local writers, set and costume designers, electricians, and florists, this project will energize our economy.”
