Marijuana greenhouse construction project makes progress in Cathedral City

Marijuana cultivator Sunniva says it is making progress on complex of an extensive greenhouse complex in Cathedral City, Riverside County.

ORR Builders based in Palm Desert is building the project including a 32,500 sq. ft. parcel Building A, and a $163,500 sq. ft. parcel Building B, for a total of 486,000 sq. ft. There also is site grading and new offices at 60,000 sq. ft. and a distribution center, the contractor says.

In a statement Sunniva says the rough grading, steel erection, greenhouse glass and gazing on the project are 100% complete.

Work to complete includes:

  • Blackout screening install – 60% complete
  • Fire suppression equipment 60% complete
  • Header house roof panels – 30% complete
  • Utility work – 10% complete

The Canadian-based grower says its US subsidiaries hold eight 10,000 sq. ft. cultivation licenses, two manufacturing licenses, one 22,000 sq. ft. cultivation license, one 22,000 sq. ft. nursery license, and one 10,000 sq. ft. nursery license. Sunniva will additionally lease seven 22,000 sq. ft. cultivation bays to these selected licensed tenants.
