Chelsea Investment Corp. and Sudberry Properties have broken ground on a new housing project in Civita, a master-planned community in San Diego’s Mission Valley area.

The mixed-use retail development will include 103 apartments for seniors and 203 apartments for families. The project, located at the intersection of Civita Blvd. and Via Alta, will include 37,000 sq. ft. of ground-floor retail and seven floors of apartment homes. The retail portion will be owned and managed by Sudberry Properties.

Siena Apartments for seniors will include one- and two-bedroom floor plans, while Stylus Apartments for families will include two- and three-bedroom floor plans. The apartments will include three courtyards landscaped with picnic and barbecue areas, fitness equipment and outdoor entertaining areas.

Meanwhile, both Siena and Stylus will include a large clubroom with a fully-equipped kitchen for events and gatherings. The development is convenient to a planned elementary school site and a block from Civita Park.

Construction of the housing project expected to complete in mid-2020.
