A man was arrested on July 2 in the shooting death of a security guard the day before at a at the Alex Griffith Housing Development in San Francisco’s Bayview District.

The shooting occurred around 5:25 a.m. Monday near Fitzgerald Avenue and Arelious Walker Drive. The slain man was identified as Rolando Romero, 61, The San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Police arrested Cardell Mason Coleman, 24, of San Francisco. He was taken into custody on the 2700 block of Arelious Walker Dr., within a block of the shooting site, police said.

Prosecutor Heather Travison said at a court hearing that police identified Coleman with video footage from the crime scene.

Alex Bastian, a spokesman for the San Francisco district attorney’s office, declined to discuss the case in detail but said justice will be served, SFGATE reported.

“What I can say is that a 61-year-old man, who by all accounts was an incredible human being, is no longer with us,” Bastian said. “He was murdered. And there’s going to be justice for that.”
