The city of San Jose has started construction on an affordable housing project offering 135 units.
The project called the North San Pedro Studios is being built on a 0.7-acre site at the intersection of Bassett and Terraine streets in downtown San Jose.
The 135-unit apartment building will offer 118 studio units, 16 one-bedroom units at 30-50% of the Area Median Income. The project will be designed by architectural firm OJK Architecture and Planning.
The design calls for five stories of residential units over parking with a density of 207 dwelling units per acre. The building will feature LEED Platinum green building design and a large, exterior landscaped podium.
The San Pedro Studios will be the affordable portion of the North San Pedro Residential Project, a large multi-phased housing master plan being developed by Intracorp Companies, Barry Swenson Builder, and First Community Housing, in partnership with the San Jose Redevelopment Agency.
