A fake Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent has allegedly visited construction sites in El Dorado Hills in east-central California, handcuffed workers, and took money to pay for “court fees from the victims, under the threat of being deported.
The El Dorado Sheriff’s Office says it arrested Patrick Mullany of El Dorado Hills after the second incident in a week, when the victims called the sheriff’s office for help.
“Our patrol worked diligently alongside our investigations units to determine the facts,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “As a result, a search warrant was issued for Mullany’s residence and vehicle. During the search, two replica firearms, two sets of handcuffs, and a large amount of cash were located. Mullany was arrested and transported to the County Jail for Robbery, False Imprisonment, and Impersonating a Police Officer.”
