Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southwest has awarded a $36 million firm-fixed-price task order to Harper Construction Co. under a multiple award construction contract for the design and build of a radiographic building at Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake.
Harper is scheduled to provide design and construction of a radiographic building at NAWS China Lake and complete work by spring 2024.
The facility will be used for inspection and radiological evaluation of energetics, energetic components, and all up ordnance in support of the Navy Ordnance Test and Evaluation Division.
“Awarding construction of the new Radiographic Facility will restore another facet of the unique testing and research conducted at China Lake that was lost after the July 2019 earthquakes. This accomplishment represents another important step toward brining Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake back to full mission capability,” Cmdr. Dan Stokes, NAVFAC Southwest Assistant Operations Officer, said in a statement.
