$32 million Marriott Hotel complex breaks ground in Barstow

Developers have broken ground on a $32 million Marriott Hotel project in Barstow.

In a statement, Hotel Investment Group (HIG) says there will be two hotels, for short and long-term stays. The project is expected to create 600 full-time construction jobs within the next year and a half.

“The Marriott Hotel brand is recognized by millions of travelers around the world and Barstow is part of our family today,” HIG Chief Executive Officer Darshan Patel said in a July 7 statement. “The positive effects of economic development on the region in terms of employment in construction and hospitality will continue to transform the region’s microeconomics. ”

“The official milestones at the Marriott Hotel demonstrate Barstow’s resilience during a pandemic and work hard to ensure the development community recognizes that we are a professional company and open to business,” said Mayor Paul Anthony Courtney.
