Miranda Patton of MNS Engineers set to lead statewide engineering association

Miranda Patton has been installed as president for the 2021-2022 fiscal year of the American Council of Engineering Companies, California (ACEC-CA), a statewide association representing more than 1,000 private consulting engineering and land-surveying firms.

Patton is the first African American to lead the organization, and the third female in its 60 plus year history.

“Miranda has participated in numerous professional associations in an effort to advance a diverse and well-educated engineering workforce locally,” said Brad Diede, Executive Director of ACEC California. “She is a true public servant and has dedicated her career to improving the quality of life for those in her community and throughout California.”

As a Principal at MNS Engineers, based in Santa Barbara, Patton uses her knowledge of project delivery and meticulous attention to detail to advocate for the engineering profession and municipal infrastructure, ACEC-CA says in a statement. “Miranda has engaged in many local civic efforts and spent countless hours working to advance key legislation and public policy in support of public infrastructure.”

In addition to routinely participating in ACEC California’s Legislative Visit Days in Sacramento, she has served on the Board of the National Engineers Week Committee for Ventura/Santa Barbara and participates in multiple committees to annually honor top engineers and projects around the state.

“Her commitment to the profession is further demonstrated by her service on the Ventura County Transportation Commission Citizen’s Transportation Advisory Committee/Social Services Transportation Advisory Council, serving as chair for six years and representing the people of Camarillo for 12 years,” the statement says.

Patton lives with her husband and two children in Camarillo. “She is an active cyclist and runner, often participating in 10K’s, half-marathons, and century rides around the state benefiting various charities. She enjoys learning and exploring other cultures and travels aboard whenever she can.”
