Construction of the first phase of the Aggie Square project in Sacramento is expected to start in April, following a groundbreaking ceremony in February at the University of California Davis.
The work on what will ultimately be a $1 billion campus is expected to be completed by 2025.
Overall, plans are to develop 1.2 million sq. ft. of research labs, wet labs, retail spaces, and housing units across five different buildings. Two of the buildings will be built as Biotechnology research buildings, one will be the Alice Waters Institute for Edible Education. The other buildings will consist of classrooms dedicated to job training and lifelong learning, along with a mixed-use housing development, Construction Review Online reported.
