Construction has started on a $36 million, 77-unit affordable housing project in southwest Santa Rosa.

Developer Los Gatos-based Milestone Housing Group is using tax credit subsidies to help finance The Acme Family Apartments at 1885 Sebastopol Rd. in the Roseland area, The Press Democrat reports.

The four-story complex is also being financed by the The Sonoma County Housing Fund, a joint effort by the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber and nonprofit Housing Trust Silicon Valley.

Milestone Housing has developed affordable projects across California, including in San Jose, Livermore and Santa Cruz.
