The Sacramento City Council will vote Tuesday on a proposal to expand the Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District (EIFD) at the Railyards and approve a $325 million private investment package for a new professional soccer stadium, entertainment venue, and significant infrastructure upgrades.
The proposed expansion would increase the EIFD to 220 acres to acelerate a transformation of the Railyards site with a new 14-acre stadium for Sacramento Republic FC, to be developed by Indomitable LLC, a partnership between the soccer club and Wilton Rancheria.
Construction could start in July and be completed by 2027.
“This plan represents a major step toward realizing the long-standing vision for the Railyards,” said Mayor Kevin McCarty. “With strong private investment, we can deliver the public infrastructure needed to support jobs, housing, and a permanent home for professional soccer in Sacramento, all without relying on the City’s general fund.”
If approved, the plan also includes $45 million in infrastructure work east of 7th Street, financed by developers, a $75 million private investment from Downtown Railyard Venture to rehabilitate the historic Central Shops, and $50 million in supporting infrastructure.
