Construction crews and project partners gathered this week to celebrate a major milestone at the 557 E. Bayshore Apartments development as Building A reached its highest point in Redwood City.
The topping-out milestone marks significant progress on a mixed-use residential project that will help advance Redwood City’s General Plan vision for the Bayshore area as a vibrant waterfront neighborhood that embraces the city’s connection to the San Francisco Bay.
Developed by SyRES Properties and built by W.E. O’Neil Construction, Building A is the first of three planned structures within the larger mixed-use development. The project also includes a VillaSport fitness facility and a future five-story residential Building B.
When completed, Building A will encompass 383,068 square feet and include 222 apartment units. The five-story, Type III-A wood-framed residential building wraps around a five-level, Type I-A parking garage with 386 spaces.
The development will provide 173,651 square feet of rentable residential space and 17,681 square feet of amenity and back-of-house space designed to support residents’ daily needs and active lifestyles.
Amenities will include a game room, community kitchen, library, co-working spaces, work rooms and landscaped outdoor courtyards featuring a pool deck.
Project officials celebrated the milestone alongside construction workers, project team members and industry partners. The event included a barbecue and raffle prizes recognizing the efforts of those involved in bringing the project to fruition.
W.E. O’Neil Construction credited the achievement to the collaboration of project partners, including SyRES Properties, BDE Architecture and numerous trade contractors working on the development.
The apartment community is expected to play a key role in the ongoing transformation of the Bayshore corridor, adding new housing and amenities as Redwood City continues to expand its waterfront district.
