Construction has reached a major milestone on Dignity Health’s new Advanced Ambulatory Care Center (AACC) in Folsom, with project partners celebrating the placement of the building’s final structural steel beam.

Representatives from Dignity Health, developer NexCore Group, architect Perkins&Will, builder XL Construction, elected officials and community members gathered for a traditional topping-off ceremony, which included remarks from project leaders, a ceremonial beam signing and refreshments.

The approximately 90,000-sq. ft. outpatient structure is designed to expand access to integrated healthcare services in one of the Sacramento region’s fastest-growing communities. When complete, the centre will include an outpatient surgery centre, urgent care, advanced imaging, multi-specialty clinics, telehealth capabilities and home monitoring technology.

Project officials said the facility is intended to provide convenient, family-centred care while emphasizing preventive medicine, advanced procedures and digital health services.

“We’re beam-ing with joy,” Dignity Health Medical Groups said in announcing the milestone, noting the completion of the facility’s structural framework and the continued progress toward opening the medical campus.

The building has been designed to reflect Folsom’s identity as “Distinctive by Nature,” blending healthcare services with the surrounding environment while creating a wellness-focused destination for patients and families.

“This groundbreaking marks a pivotal moment for Dignity Health, Folsom and the greater Sacramento region,” said Lisa Hausmann, president and CEO of Mercy Hospital of Folsom. “For more than 35 years, Dignity Health has been proud to care for this community, and the Advanced Ambulatory Care Center reflects our commitment to building on our legacy. As Folsom and the surrounding communities continue to grow, we stand ready to grow with it.”

The project team includes global architecture and design firm Perkins&Will, healthcare real estate developer NexCore Group and Northern California-based XL Construction. Dignity Health selected the design team and developer in May 2024 as part of its long-term investment in expanding healthcare infrastructure in the region.

The Advanced Ambulatory Care Center is expected to open in 2027, with project updates indicating an anticipated completion in early fall.
