San Diego County officials and local leaders broke ground on Spring View Apartments, a new 147‑unit affordable housing development directly next to the San Diego Trolley Line in La Mesa.

The $106 million development is being built on surplus land owned by the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), transforming an underused portion of a park‑and‑ride lot into housing directly connected to public transportation.

Affirmed Housing is developing Spring View through a public-private partnership dedicated to adding more affordable homes in the region. The County is contributing $8.5 million to the project, and providing 40 project-based vouchers, including four Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) vouchers and 36 Section 8 vouchers to help maintain long-term affordability.

Spring View Apartments will include outdoor gathering spaces, play areas for children, a basketball hoop, barbecue stations, a community room, activity centers, and computer rooms. The development will also have on–site solar energy and high–efficiency building systems to support sustainability goals.

Explore the dounty’s interactive dashboard for details on the County’s affordable housing inventory and visit the Housing for All Hub for services, resources, and property information through its Affordable Housing Map.
