LaTerra unveils mixed-user for Hollywood’s Los Feliz neighborhood

A mixed-use project by La Terra Development is replacing a strip mall to deliver homes and ground floor retail to 4850 Hollywood Blvd.

According to renderings released on Jan. 19, the development will consist of a six-story building with 96 apartment units, approximately 9,500 sq. ft. of commercial space at street level, and basement parking for 176 vehicles.

The mid-rise features a contemporary design in a U-shaped form wrapping around a podium-level amenity deck for its tenants. It will be built at a height less than the legal allowance to ensure that views from the nearby Barnsdall Art Park is not impacted.

La Terra’s project also sits one block away from a medical center hub that includes three different hospitals. It is within 800 yards of the Sunset/Vermont metro station, and is a 15-minute drive away from downtown Los Angeles.

This development, designed by local architect Urban Architecture Lab, comes amid a shortage of housing in the Los Feliz neighborhood as the area has not seen any apartment project in recent years.

The development is named La Terra Select Los Feliz I and will occupy a 0.89-ac. parcel. No construction timeline has been announced by its developer as it is currently in its design stage.

Together with the architect, La Terra is also planning a similar development down the street at 4900 Hollywood Blvd. in Edgemont. The other project will be a collection of 21 small-lot homes and is replacing the Center for Inquiry and Steve Allen Theater.
