San Diego Supervisors approve zoning changes for housing development

The San Diego County Board Supervisors approved some zoning changes that will allow the construction of three large housing developments in San Diego County, KUSI reports.

The projects – two in North County and one in the South Bay – are expected to provide around 4,000 homes to the region.

The supervisors voted 4-0 to make the changes to the county’s general plan to permit the three new developments, according to the report.

The board approved the development of 453 new homes in a part of unincorporated San Diego County, just west of Escondido. The project is called Harmony Grove Village South. The board also approved a project with 326 residential units called Valiano, located directly north of the Harmony Grove Village community.

A third project is a mixed-use development called Otay 250 with 3,158 residential units, 78,000 sq. ft. of commercial space and 765,000 sq. ft. of business technology buildings on a 253-acre site in Otay Mesa.
