A four-story hotel under construction in Ventura County went up in flames on April 12.

The structure, part of a redevelopment project led by Dallas-based Mian Development Corp. and Mian Metropolitan Holdings, was to be an extended stay Home2 Suites Hotel by Hilton.

The fire, near the Cmarillo Premium Outlets on Ventura Boulevard completely destroyed the structure and brought dozens of firefighters to the site.

The project, approved in 2018, called for the Mian Cos. to build two hotels, a conference center and shops along a sliver of land just south of Highway 101 and across the street from the outlet mall, VC Star reported.

Jim Faul, a representative and building manager from the Mian Cos., said Wednesday the company planned to rebuild the hotel from scratch after a conversation with the chief executive, T. M. Mian, the newspaper reported.

“We talked to T.M. last night and then this morning and we’re hoping to move forward,” Faul said  at the site.

Capt Brian McGrath of the Ventura County Fire Department said: “This was basically a pallet fire: all bare lumber.”
