The City of Oakland has released the Response to Comments/Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the California College of the Arts (CCA) Oakland Campus redevelopment project.

The EIR, published Sept. 20, compiles community feedback and outlines environmental considerations tied to the redevelopment project.

Next steps in the process include a review by the Landmarks Preservation Advisory Board on Oct. 7. The board will consider a recommendation regarding the EIR and project entitlements, which will then move to the Planning Commission for a hearing on Oct. 16, 2024.

“Engagement with the community and stakeholders has been integral to this process,” the CCA said in a statement. “We are committed to ensuring that the redevelopment aligns with Oakland’s environmental and cultural goals.”

After the planning commission’s recommendations, Oakland city council will evaluate the EIR and development application at a hearing.

The CCA Oakland Campus Redevelopment Project would modernize facilities and enhance educational resources while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding neighborhood. The college emphasizes sustainability and community involvement in its development plans, aligning with Oakland’s broader environmental objectives.
