The San José Fire Department is set to host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fire Station 32 on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. The event will take place at 1138 Olinder Court, at the intersection of Olinder Court and Felipe Avenue in Council District 7.
The new single-story, double-company fire station will span 7,697 square feet. It will feature two apparatus bays designed to accommodate both a fire engine and a fire truck, as well as separate sleeping quarters for all eight on-duty firefighters, private bathrooms, and parking for staff and city vehicles.
Fire Station 32 will be the 35th active fire station in San José, enhancing emergency services in the region. While the specific response area is still being finalized, the all-electric facility is expected to serve the Greater Santee and Little Saigon neighborhoods, among others.
It will also protect vital local infrastructure, including Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, Sharks Ice at San Jose, Tech CU Arena, Excite Ballpark, the Grand Century Shopping Mall, Kelley Park, Santee Elementary School, and a Walmart Supercenter.
“This new station underscores our commitment to improving public safety and enhancing emergency response capabilities for our residents,” said Mayor Mahan.
