Pinnacle Construction & Modular, Inc. has achieved a significant milestone by securing the first residential construction permit to install a BOXABL Casita in California. The project, located in an unincorporated area of San Jose under county jurisdiction, marks the introduction of the innovative modular housing solution to Santa Clara County.
The BOXABL Casita, a 361-square-foot modular home, features a modern, space-efficient layout that includes a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. This installation aligns with Santa Clara County’s ongoing efforts to simplify the approval process for accessory dwelling units (ADUs)—also known as backyard homes or granny flats—aiming to provide more housing options for residents.
“We’re proud to lead the way in bringing affordable, high-quality housing solutions to Santa Clara County,” said Temo Corona, President of Pinnacle Construction. “The BOXABL Casita is a game-changer, offering a fast, practical, and sustainable approach to meeting the growing demand for housing in our community.”
This milestone comes as Santa Clara County works to implement pre-approved plans for ADUs by the end of the year, further streamlining construction processes and expanding access to affordable housing. The BOXABL Casita is built to meet California’s stringent residential building codes, including the CalGreen Building Code and Title 24 Energy Standards. The unit’s quick installation process, energy efficiency, and seven-year home warranty make it an ideal fit for the county’s housing goals.
To further demonstrate its commitment to innovative housing solutions, Pinnacle Construction & Modular will open a BOXABL showroom in downtown San Jose by the end of the month. The showroom will allow potential buyers to experience the Casita model firsthand, showcasing its features, functionality, and benefits.
This development marks a key step in the region’s efforts to address housing shortages with affordable and sustainable solutions.
