Bay FC has begun construction on its new state-of-the-art Sports Performance Center on Treasure Island, with Olson Kundig serving as the architect of record and Devcon Construction Inc. leading construction. The facility is designed to elevate the club and support the growth of women’s professional sports.

Devcon officials said they are “proud to partner with Bay FC and the City & County of San Francisco to build the first-ever professional women’s sports training facility in San Francisco — right here on Treasure Island. The new Bay FC Sports Performance Center will feature three world-class training fields, state-of-the-art recovery and performance spaces, and sweeping views of the Bay.

“More than just a facility, it’s a milestone for women’s athletics and a hub for the community.”

Built on 8.5 acres of the 40 acres designated for sports use on the island, the center will feature three training fields, dedicated sports facilities, and resources to help athletes maintain peak performance. It is among the few purpose-built training facilities for women’s sports in the United States.

The center is part of Treasure Island’s ongoing redevelopment, transforming the former Golden Gate International Exposition site and longtime U.S. Naval base into a sustainable, mixed-use neighborhood with housing, retail, offices, and public event space. Plans for the remaining sports-dedicated land include youth programs, recreational facilities, and community events to connect athletes with the Bay Area community.

Bay FC players emphasized the impact of the new facility on the team’s development, describing it as a benchmark for professional women’s soccer and a hub for training, growth, and recovery.

Treasure Island’s redevelopment and Bay FC’s investment reflect a broader expansion of sports infrastructure in San Francisco. Earlier this year, the city hosted the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend, attracting 142,000 visitors and generating $328 million in economic impact. Upcoming events include FIFA World Cup matches and Super Bowl LX, with a combined expected economic impact of $1.4 billion.

The performance center will also support community programs, including internships and wellness initiatives with local schools such as Life Learning Academy, strengthening ties between professional athletes and the city’s youth.
