Eden Housing has secured the final funding needed to begin construction on a 130-unit affordable housing development in downtown Livermore, with groundbreaking expected in early 2027.
The Downtown Livermore Apartments project will provide affordable homes for families earning between 20% and 60% of the area median income.
The project recently received three major state funding awards, including $39 million in tax-exempt bond financing from the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee, $47.4 million in federal tax credits from the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee and $7.8 million in gap funding through the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s Multifamily Housing Program.
The development previously received $6 million in Measure W funding from Alameda County.
Funding partners include Alameda County, the City of Livermore, the Livermore Housing Authority and the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
“Housing security has always been a priority for our City, and securing this funding is a major milestone for this project,” Livermore Mayor John Marchand said in a statement. “These 130 affordable homes will give more families the opportunity to work and live in Livermore, and we are excited to see this important project move toward construction.”
Eden Housing credited the city, state and other project partners for helping secure the financing needed to move the development forward.
The downtown Livermore Apartments groundbreaking is scheduled for early 2027.
“This project marks a significant step toward the City’s vision of affordable housing that allows families at various income levels to live and work in Livermore, providing stable homes and a more secure future for their children,” said Eden Housing President and CEO Linda Mandolini.
